KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA is fighting against the perception that it not doing enough for the Chinese community.In a rare move, party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting yesterday issued a statement listing issues championed by the MCA such as the racial imbalance in the public sector, religious freedom and Chinese education.
This statement, posted on the party’s website, comes at a time of growing pressure on MCA and Gerakan politicians to be more assertive when protecting the interests of the Chinese community.
Ong made it clear that the MCA understood the aspirations of Malaysian Chinese but would adopt the approach of settling problems during Barisan Nasional and Cabinet meetings.
"MCA has taken the responsible approach in dealing with problems to ensure that racial harmony is not affected.
"By presenting the concerns of the community with sound facts, solutions can be achieved whereby, at the end of the day, it will be respected by all parties," he said.
Ong denied that the MCA was pressured to issue the statement, saying that the party felt duty-bound to let the community know it played a constructive role within the Barisan Nasional.
"Our conscience is clear. However, we need to uphold racial harmony so we will bring up the community concerns at the right forums."
He said the statement was issued in Chinese as there were numerous opinions in Chinese papers demanding to know MCA’s stand on various issues.
"MCA is holding firm to its principles, and by not compromising on the community’s basic rights.
"At the same time, we are maintaining the stability and harmony of the multi-racial society through the BN mechanism," he said.
Meanwhile, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said sensitive issues such as religious and economic matters should be discussed behind closed doors.
He said sensitive issues are bound to crop up in a multi-racial society but these should be settled via discussions in a proper forum, rather than by openly talking about it.
"We have a forum in the Cabinet and a kind Prime Minister who listens to every community.
"I think we can discuss issues internally, rather than openly, to avoid any friction," he said.

They don't boast here and there, consciously or unconsciously they are the one who have been and still fighting effectively to place where the Chinese are today.Avoid DAP- Kit Siang only good at cracking jokes in the parliament.Nothing materialise.Want to have a good laugh just listen to him.Such a brilliant joker he is.Ask Hu Sepang, ask Lee Lam Thye to know Kit Siang better. I think, well.. if we need to get better, we need give a chance to other people, and yeah... If we give someone a chance, that means we give a chance for ourselves to understand someone better.
But why my country, our politicians, BN or opposition party, they dont really sit down and discuss the country issues properly, they just stand up and scream at others in the parliament and never really let each other speaks... People speak half way, they already scream like monkey.

I am only a young man who doesnt know about politics in my country, but All i can see, those people only want the party they support to win, is like supporting the football team they like, but they dont really look at our malaysia whats going on.
Honestly, our education system is something wrong with it. How many times there's someone try to discuss about it but our education minister just ignore it like that. He thought our education system is alright, but really... there is something wrong with it.
Moral studies, we just study the values, we dont know how to apply it in real life, so whats the point studying it. Our history is incomplete, and there are too many modification since the last history book i read in high school 8 years ago.
our chemistry, why do we need to learn it in malay, not that there are many malay KIMIA book available if u work in the professional industry, and we have to relearn all the term again?
Why is our methematic getting easier? trying to get our younger generation to get flying colours in their exam?
Why is our art subject so... shallow and there is basically nothing to study? what about the art history for the art subject? Why our government believes art wont produce a better country? Arts is so important in our life, but why our government or our country people think only stupid people can study that subject?
why there is no support for the needed poor performance students? we tend to ignore them if they dont do well in school? only the good students get the best treatment from the teachers...
is our education minister really doesnt know the issues or he is trying to ignore it?
Dont talk about MCA or DAP now, those politicians will die in 20 years time anyway, if they lucky they live a bit longer, but our young generation is the most important one... because they have another at least, 60 years on this land, MALAYSIA, who is going to built the country? THEM!
Oh lord... Do we really need a government now if our future generation will be dumb?
all the malaysian politicians about , is just about to win the election, thats all they do.. and thats all i can see, sorry, not much on the newspaper to talk about them anyway, all the newspaper can publish is good news and some shallow gossips about the politicians...
why dont we have a column for reader to say what they think about our government? is our government think they always right?
I dont have the answers I want to know . Because we are not suppose to ask or say anything in this country, I mean, face to face to the politicians or ask them on the newspaper, because they dont surf net like we do, because we have too much spare time.

yes no doubt kids are getting clever, at the same time exam is getting easier.
these days kids are getting better in a sense of they grow faster due to the exposer from different medias and technology, and also they got to see the world earlier than we do. Thats why we say kids are clever these days. at the same time, theya re getting lazier as well.. Those are not my words, those are the researcher's result. Its a global issue, kids these days then to stick to their parents more than the previous generation, Do you heard about the different of Generation x and y and so on?

Do you think our students are getting better ?
and do you think our textbooks are well covered everything we need to know for the particular subject? just look at the physic and chemistry, how much is it covered? If like that we dont need to buy references book published by PELANGI for our kids. Our text book is simply too simplified and too basic. God knows whats going on , and no one want to take a step to change. I wrote the suggestion letters to the education department many times and hopefully I can get a reasonable explaination from them, but no reply from them, i am not surprise. Is our education department really that busy all the time? I think not. When I went there to get some documents to be certified by the education department a few months ago, the workers there seem so relax, and reading newspaper and so on.

Pergi keSabah. Sejak Umno memerintah Sabah, ratusan ribu Indon dan Filipino dapat Mykad, dapat hak istimewa bumiputera, tetapi pergilah kepinggir KL, dalam laman ni pun dah banyak kali dipaparkan bagaimana orang Melayu dihambat macam anjing. Mana pemimpin Umno? Mana pejuang melayu? Dalam masa yang sama, Melayu keseluruhannya dihina. Semua orang kata Melayu dapat hak istimewa, dapat itu dan ini, tapi hakikatnya, kalau tak ada jawatan dalam Umno, tok sah mimpilah.
Tak ada apa yang nak dirugikan kalau berubah. Kita dah memang rugi.Yang untung pemimpin Umno. Jadi Ahli majlis pun boleh buat banglo 4 tingkat. Sedangkan rakyat biasa bernasib baik kalau dapat tinggal dirumah pangsa empat tingkat. Yang untung, nun yang tinggal diTingkat 4.
tak kira sapa yang memerintah, Pas ke, Umno ke, kalau tak tunaikan amanah, tendang. Pas pun pernah diberi peluang kat Trengganu, tak sampai lima tahun, out! Sebab tak tunaikan janji. Cuma Umno saja yang susah sikit nak singkir, bukan sebab depa kuat, tapi depa main kotor.

MCA stands for MALAYSIAN CHINESE association. They are supposed to represent the MALAYSIAN CHINESE community. So, as a leader, they should tell whether their own community is marginalised.
Let them give the good answer and see whether the Chinese in this country think like them. Let's see whether they really represent the COMMON CHINESE community.

I have no problem with DAP or PAS or KeADILAN as long as they can manage and administer this country well. Trial and error is a dangerous game, too dangerous when we talking about running a country. Let oppositions remain as oppositions, a strong and reliable one.Let BN continue to run as they have proven themselves very well.I am worried about DAP because Kit Siang simply refuses to let younger blood to take over.It could have been run better if DAp is out of Kit Siang's claw. He is talking about undemocratic inclination that the present system has in Malaysia without realising that he is more draconian. Try and oppose him and see where you are ended up to.

What Tun Mahathir needs now is not the answers from AAB. He is not interested, and never intersted to have one,he is only interested to revile and run AAb down, not happy with AAB because TDM expected AAb to kow tow to his wishes. AAb gets consensus from Cabinet ministers in getting policies approved whereas TUn simply bulldoze at his own whimps and fancy . Very true la, until today, many Chinese from main land China who come as tourists, selling body at the same time. To the Chinese, prostituting is their culture, everywhere in the world, not difficult to find Chinese prostitutes. Can't blame them though, its their culture, we as Malaysians must respect that. I was told that in a chinese home, their daughter only wear underwear, parents do not say anything instead they are proud to see that one day , she will be a great famous hawker, selling the trangle in between their legs. What to do! their culture!

Dear Non bumi-Putera,
we are still in the poor level Non bumi putera status. Please be reminded that not all non bumi-putera are rich or qualify to emigrate to other countries as right now. we know the all negatives things after so many years and we are struggling inhumanely upon ourself just to pull away from this weakening economy day by day toward globalization. We surely wish our people move out from this country as soon as we able to and start a better future for our next generation. Deep down you know there is no use to post provocative message and hoping any change or letting your anger out will do any good. You are just pushing these people to hurt us before we are able to make our way to escape to other country which could be China with flooding foreign investments. We know it sounds sad but what can we do since we are the poorer one within our non bumi community. Best if we could make it, but if not then we will have our next generation out of this country. we cant blame them all because we as non-bumi also has flaws as well even it is not life threatening. If you pay attention, amount of indonesian and Philipine(muslim) migrate into malaysia are off the chart. These people get their MyKad with Bumi putera status in short time even by illegal entering Check Sabah(most happening area). With this kind of unusual growth of malay in this country there will be no need to have our vote in the country to get them the power seats. We know they shouting loudly and openly about us go back to china plus waving the Kriss with intention to bath chinese blood. These has shown how bad the situation is getting for all non-bumi. Learn from our "Indianese" current status. The time is not much, just hope that we could get enough qualification and leave this place. Surely you next generation will very love you for that. Maybe it is not a good place to invest your money in high tension area any more because your lifetime investment may swallow up by flame and hatre as you've seen in Indonesia and Solomon island not to mention your love ones. Surely there are more to say but this is enough. I know there are many of you know the weblink of application to emigrate to other countries who value our contributions and not asking the paying of minimum 30% and going up for "tanah orang Asli" that you paid and reciepted with land title. If you would post it out for us, we would know what need to be done and qualified ourself in order to get our love one out.
